Welcome to Abingdon Freewheeling, the social cycling club in Abingdon
Freewheeling cycling club was founded in 2010 by a small group of passionate individuals who shared a love for cycling and wanted to promote cycling in the community. The vision was simple: to provide free cycling for all, whatever your age or experience and no matter what type of bike you ride! The ethos has not changed and we are still run by volunteers and are annual subscription is still as low as we can keep it.
☛ friendly, inclusive and very sociable
☛ everyone is welcome, no matter what type of bike they ride
☛ rides are non competitive, no one gets left behind
☛ all riders stop and help each other with mechanical problems
☛ we are always happy to stop and wait, and encourage beginners
☛ ride leaders are always friendly, and put the safety and comfort of others before their own cycling goals
☛ the club is run at a barebones minimum to keep costs as low as possible
☛ to offer a variety of road and MTB rides ranging from 4 to over 100 miles
☛ we are not a racing club, encouraging those wanting to race to join Didcot Phoenix or Zappis
We are friendly and approachable and hold the clubs best interests in our sights. If you have an issue you want to raise let us know – or even better still come along to a committee meeting (usually first Monday of every other month).
